Plant a Pumpkin Update- June 05. 2013

WP_001023

We were out in the fields today planting peppers, zucchini, pumpkins and squash and we happened to be near the Plant-a-Pumpkin patch: it seemed like a good time to take a break- a stroll through the carefully decorated stakes was a great refresher! Most stakes have managed to keep decorations that had been attached, despite the crazy winds we’ve been having!

The cold snap followed by a intense heat confused the little guys, but everybody made it through okay. For those who planted plants, the plants have nice dark new leaves coming up- they are about 6-8 inches tall now… For those who planted seeds- you’ve got green! The first 2 leaves are up and healthy looking. The folks who went in the larger field have some new company- we planted some pie pumpkins and cinderella pumpkins in there today…

Most of the sunflowers have put up their first 2 leaves- despite having to come up through cement-like ground (trust me, I spent most of the day crawling on it….).

Stay tuned for updates!
